RISE and Vanadis Energy sign five-year agreement on advanced battery technology

Vanadis Energy and RISE Research Institutes of Sweden announced comprehensive five-year agreement to drive the development and global deployment of advanced Vanadium Solid State Battery (VSB).
STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN, AND EISENSTADT, AUSTRIA: 27 APRIL 2026 - Vanadis Energy and RISE Research Institutes of Sweden AB announced the signing of a comprehensive five-year Framework Agreement to drive the development and global deployment of advanced Vanadium Solid State Battery (VSB) technologies.
Effective 1 May 2026, the partnership will combine Vanadis Energy’s industrial expertise and global supply-chain capabilities with RISE’s world-class research infrastructure and dedicated Bioeconomy division resources.
Vanadis Energy will make a multimillion euro commitment over the five-year period to fund joint R&D, commissioned research projects, and applications for publicly funded innovation programs.
Key focus areas include localization of material production in Sweden and Europe, development of secure vanadium and carbon supply chains, advancement of adhesive layers between sheets, improvement of VSB electrolytes, supplier engagement and support, funding of related PhD studies, strategic market development, and the full certification of Vanadis Energy’s VSB technology for the wider global market, ensuring compliance with the highest dual-use standards for both civilian and strategic applications.

The Framework Agreement includes annual joint Scope of Work planning and ensures dedicated resources for rapid response to Vanadis Energy’s development priorities.
